エマ先生からのメッセージ6 Christmas

It’s December so I’ve been thinking about Christmas a lot! Christmas in Japan is quite different from Christmas in the UK.

In the UK, Christmas is the most important day of the year. Children never go to school and nobody goes to work except people with very important jobs like doctors and police officers.
All of the shops are closed and the streets are quiet because everyone is at home with their family. It is a national holiday.

Christmas is the best time of year! I love decorating my Christmas tree, buying presents for my friends and family, and listening to Christmas music. I also love eating traditional British Christmas foods, such as Christmas dinner, Christmas pudding, and mince pies!

In the UK, we have ‘Christmas crackers’. Before we eat dinner, we pull the crackers together. Inside the crackers there are paper crowns and small presents. We wear the crowns while we eat our Christmas dinner.

This year, I’ll have a Japanese Christmas. I’m planning to eat KFC and Christmas cake with my friends. I’ll definitely call my family too.

Merry Christmas!
