Oita Prefecture Tour Guide
Since moving to Oita Prefecture, some of my friends and family have visited me. Currently, I am planning for more of my American friends to visit me in Oita. When people visit me in Oita, I am excited to show them my favorite places. I thought it would be interesting for those who live in Oita Prefecture to read what I have come to love. My favorite part of Oita Prefecture is here on the Kunisaki Peninsula. There is spectacular scenery, mountains, and many beautiful Buddhist Temples, my favorite being Futago-ji. On the peninsula, you can also of course visit Bungotakada’s Showa-no-Machi. For foreign travelers visiting Japan for the first time, it is a great place to experience traditional Japan.
I also love Yufuin. Beppu is of course famous for onsens, but I love the onsens and ryokans in Yufuin as well. In Yufuin, we can enjoy the steam on Lake Kinrin-ko and walk around the Floral Village. After a short drive, you can also find Fukinoto waterfall. I also recommend places near Nakatsu, especially Yabakei. The beauty of Ao-no-domon and Rakkan-ji temple is impressive. Nearby, you can relax in Hachimenzan Kanairo Onsen. My American friends know about famous foods such as ramen and sushi before coming to Japan, but I like to introduce them to famous local foods such as karaage which might be new to them. I have so many more places I like to recommend, but this is a short summary. I wonder if you agree!
