St. Patrick’s Day　　　

Holidays like Christmas, Valentines Day, and Halloween are popular in both Japan and America. However, a holiday called “St. Patrick’s Day” on March 17 is not well known in Japan. Because of that, I would like to explain a little bit about one of my favorite holidays. St. Patrick’s day is a holiday about the country Ireland! There are millions of people in America who have Irish ancestry (myself included). Because of that, St. Patrick’s Day is a very popular holiday! Not only Irish people but people of ALL backgrounds celebrate the holiday. The most popular tradition is wearing green clothes. No matter if they are at school, work,or a party, almost everyone wears the color green on St. Patrick’s Day. Parades with Irish dancers are also popular. One of the most famous St. Patrick’s Day events in America is in Chicago, my hometown! They dye the whole Chicago River green! I was born in America, but I still enjoy celebrating my Irish background on St. Patrick’s Day by wearing green, going to parties and events, and listening to Irish music. Ireland is a beautiful country, and I have visited a few times! Ireland has many cliffs, sheep, small towns, green fields, stone walls, and old castles.Please take a look at some of the pictures from my trip to Ireland many years ago！
