The American Football “Super Bowl”

Every year on a Sunday in February, America has the biggest sporting event in the country called the “Super Bowl.” The Super Bowl is the American football championship game! This year, about 127,700,000 people watched the game. That is far more people than any other event, including the baseball World Series! Many famous people attend the game. This year, Donald Trump, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, and Lionel Messi all went to the game in New Orleans. The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs played against each other, and the Philadelphia Eagles won the game!

During the game’s halftime, a large concert is held on the football field. This year,the famous rapper Kendrick Lamar performed. Because so many people watch the　game on TV, commercials during the game are so unique and interesting. A 30-second　-long commercial costs a company about $8 million (about 一億円), so the companies　work very hard on their commercials. Many people talk about their favorite commercials after the game!

Tickets to the super bowl cost about $8,000 (about 百万円), so most people　watch the game on TV! Americans usually have “Super Bowl parties” where we gather together, watch the game, and eat foods like pizza, nachos, chicken wings, and potatochips. It is always so much fun to attend these parties, even if you are not interested in football!
