Thanks, Japan!

　　I moved to Japan in October, 2021. It is now October, 2024. Wow, time has gone by so quickly! Bungotakada has been my home for three years now, so I have been thinking back on all of my memories. My time here has been incredible, and I am so happy and thankful for the chance to experience life here. Why have I chosen to live here for three years? I love Japan! I of course love temples, shrines, delicious Japanese food, mountains, the sea, festivals, and more! However, the number one reason I love living in Japan is the people. My coworkers, students, friends, and even local people I have never met treat me with so much kindness.

　　When I first moved to Bungotakada, I of course knew nobody. I also spoke almost no Japanese! Although I was excited to experience life in Bungotakada, I was also very nervous. However, I quickly felt so happy to see how friendly and helpful everybody I met was! Over the years, my brother and his wife, my parents, my cousin, and my high school friends have all visited Bungotakada. They all have the same reaction: “I love Japan!” and “I love Oita!” I understand why they have that reaction, because my reaction is the same! Thanks Japan! I’m so excited to spend more time here!
